Banner Elk, N.C. – The King University men's basketball team battled hard but came up short Saturday afternoon, falling 84–76 to Lees-McRae at Williams Gymnasium. The Tornado dropped to 1–7 overall (0–2 Conference Carolinas), while the Bobcats improved to 4–4 (1–2 Conference Carolinas).

Lees-McRae jumped out to a 40–34 halftime lead behind efficient shooting and strong play in the paint. King kept the contest close throughout, cutting the margin to single digits several times in the second half. However, the Bobcats maintained their offensive rhythm, outscoring the Tornado 44–42 after the break to secure the eight-point victory.
