BRISTOL, Tenn. – Beyuan Hendricks has been named the new assistant men's basketball coach at King University.
Hendricks brings a unique combination of collegiate success, professional playing experience, and coaching acumen to the Tornado program. A four-year starter at Lee University, Hendricks amassed 1,600 points and 521 assists, earning multiple All-Gulf South Conference honors, including First Team All-GSC and NABC First Team All-District. His leadership helped guide Lee to sustained success, and he capped his collegiate career as a participant in the prestigious NABC Reese's Division II All-Star Game.
A standout at The Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Hendricks was a four-year varsity starter, surpassing 1,000 career points and leading his team to the 2017-18 State Championship. He collected a host of honors, including All-State, All-Region, and Region Player of the Year, and was a Mr. Basketball Finalist in 2019.
Hendricks continued his basketball journey overseas, posting a career-high 24 points, six rebounds, and five assists with Batumi in Georgia's SuperLeague. He also signed with Rostock in Germany's ProB league, though his stint was cut short for medical reasons.
On the sidelines, Hendricks has demonstrated an immediate impact. He served as boys varsity assistant coach and PE teacher at The Baylor School, organizing summer camps, running skills workouts, and managing social media. Most recently, he was an assistant coach at Trevecca Nazarene University, focusing on player development, offensive schemes, and full scouting reports.
A graduate of Lee University with a bachelor's degree in psychology, Hendricks is recognized for his expertise in player development, offensive systems, recruiting, and scouting, utilizing advanced tools like Synergy to maximize team performance.
"We are extremely excited to add Coach Hendricks to our coaching staff. He comes to King highly recommended by one of my coaching mentors. Having been a NCAA II athlete that played professionally before coaching at the NCAA II level last year, he has the type of experience that will resonate with our student athletes. Coach Hendricks has already hit the ground running with our program and has already proven to be an outstanding fit with Coach Hundt and myself," said King head coach
Jason Gillespie.
Hendricks joins a King program committed to developing student-athletes on and off the court. His broad perspective and diverse experiences make him a valuable asset as the Tornado aim to build on their tradition of excellence.
Hendricks, a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, holds a bachelor's degree from Lee University. His energy, knowledge, and commitment to player growth will help elevate King men's basketball for seasons to come.
