Harrogate, Tenn. – The King University women's basketball team took the floor for the second time this season on Saturday afternoon, falling 80–54 to Middle Georgia State inside B. Frank Turner Arena. The Tornado (0–2, 0–0 Conference Carolinas) showed stretches of strong play, particularly in the second and fourth quarters, but the Knights (2–0, 0–0 Peach Belt) used a fast start and balanced scoring to secure the win.
First Quarter
Middle Georgia State came out hot, shooting 60 percent from the field and knocking down six three-pointers to build a 31–16 lead. King answered with efficient shooting of its own, hitting 50 percent in the frame, led by
Le'Aije Ellington and
Mary Elizabeth Fox.
Second Quarter
The Tornado defense tightened in the second, holding the Knights to just eight points.
Alayna Smith and
Kendall Cross provided sparks, combining for six points in the quarter. At halftime, King trailed 39–26 but had momentum from its defensive effort.
Third Quarter
Middle Georgia State regained control after the break, outscoring King 18–11. Despite the Knights' run, Fox continued her strong play, finishing with 11 points on perfect shooting from the field.
Fourth Quarter
King closed with its best offensive balance of the game, scoring 17 points in the final frame.
Aliyah Hawkins and
Jaelyn West each connected from deep, while Cross added a three-pointer off the bench. The Tornado showed resilience, battling until the final buzzer.
