BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University has announced the hiring of
Chris Valdez as its new Director of Athletics Communications. Valdez joins the Tornado athletic department with varying experience in collegiate athletic communications, digital media strategy, and external relations across multiple NCAA Division II institutions.
Valdez most recently served in leadership and communications roles at East Stroudsburg University, Limestone University, Coker University, and Lock Haven University, where he played an instrumental role in elevating each program's visibility through innovative media strategies and community engagement.
At East Stroudsburg, Valdez served with seasonal campaigns for football and basketball, redesigned athletic branding elements within the university's facilities, and served as lead statistician for home athletic events. His tenure at Limestone included hosting the national and strengthening alumni and sponsorship relationships, while at Coker he oversaw the complete redevelopment of the athletics website, managed live-stream production, and directed student media operations.
Valdez holds both a bachelor's and master's degree in Sport Management from Lock Haven University, where he specialized in international sport management and sport science. He brings technical proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, live-production platforms, and web management tools—skills that will help King continue to grow its brand and connect with diverse audiences.
