EMORY, Va. – The King University baseball team scored nine runs in the eighth inning Wednesday en route to a 13-4 win over Emory & Henry College.

KING HIGHLIGHTS
- Nathan Borchardt and Andrew Bryant both hit home runs, with Borchardt adding a double, going 2-for-4 with five RBI.
- Bryant was also 2-for-4, with three RBI.
- Corbin Dickenson picked up the win, throwing one scoreless relief inning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wasps scored a run in both the first and second innings, taking a 2-0 lead.
- After Truman Roper drew a one-out walk in the third, Borchardt hit a two-run home run down the right field line, tying the score at two.
- Emory & Henry scored in the bottom of the third to take a 3-2 lead, but King responded with two runs in the top of the fourth.
- Conner Hyatt drew a one-out walk, advancing to third on a Misael Garcia single.
- After Patrick Corley sacrifice bunted, both runners moved up 90 feet on a balk, with Hyatt scoring the game-tying run.
- Kale Richardson then singled to the pitcher, scoring Garcia and handing King a 4-3 lead.
- Emory & Henry tied the score in the bottom of the frame.
- Bryant hit a one-out single in the eighth, kicking off what would turn out to be a nine run inning by the Tornado, with Garcia picking up an RBI single, a double steal that allowed Hyatt to score, and a three-RBI double to right field, expanding the lead to 9-4.
- After Garret Huffman singled to score Borchardt, Starrs hit a single to put two on for Bryant, who hit a home run, stretching the lead to 13-4.
- Tanner Hunley and Mitchell Kahlenberg each threw a scoreless inning to close the game.
FOR THE FOES
- Jared Foley and Garrison Bullock both went 2-for-4, the only Wasps to have multiple hits.
- Bullock also added an RBI.
