Tornado fall to #14 Lee in spring opener

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's tennis team opened their spring season on Sunday against 14th-ranked Lee University. The Flames took the doubles point and the match 7-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • At No. 1 doubles, Rhys Halcrow and Andre Schiabel fell to Jordi Dasi and Merwe van der Wihan 6-3.
  • The Flames then took the final two doubles matches 6-2 to take the doubles point.
  • Halcrow fell to Faria Francisco 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles while Schiabel fell to van der Wihan 6-2, 6-3 at the second flight.
  • At No. 3 singles, Alex Sodre dropped a 6-0, 6-4 match to Quinn Groenendijk, and Isaac Yang dropped his No. 4 singles match to Dasi 6-1, 6-2.
  • At No. 5 singles, Mat Vieira dropped the first set to Viktor Yanev 6-2 and nearly won the second set, but fell 7-5.
  • Lee finished the 7-0 win at No. 6 singles as Yike Liu topped Tyler Meade 6-1, 6-1.
