BRISTOL, Tenn. –
Trent Mahoney of the King University men's wrestling team was named second team All-Conference Carolinas Friday afternoon, making it the third consecutive year that he has been named All-Conference.
Mahoney, a redshirt junior from Baton Rouge, La., is 22-8 this season ahead of this weekend's Conference Carolinas championships, with 12 wins via pin, including a 35 second pin of Nicholas Krauss of Lincoln Memorial University on Feb. 8. He has won his last nine matches, six of which came via pin, including his last three victories.
Mahoney and the Tornado will compete this weekend at the inaugural Conference Carolinas championships, hosted by UNC Pembroke. King will face the host Braves, who are ranked sixth in the country on Sunday at 11 a.m. in the semifinals. Depending on the result, King will either wrestle for third place at 1 p.m., or the championship at 3 p.m.
