NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The #3 King University women's wrestling team had two champions Sunday as they competed at the North Central Open. #3
Samara Chavez won the title at 110 pounds while top-ranked
Chey Bowman won the title at 160 pounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Chavez won her prelim match 10-0 before pinning Aaliyah Payne-Parris and winning a tech fall in her second-round match. In the quarterfinals, she won a 10-0 tech fall over Iowa's Valarie Solorio before a 10-0 win in the semifinals. She won the title after beating North Central's fourth-ranked Kendra Ryan 10-0 in the finals.
- Bowman won her first three matches via pin, including a 1:03 pin in the quarterfinals before winning 11-0 over #8 Tiera Jimerson of North Central in the semifinals. After falling behind early in the finals, she rallied for a 4-2 win.
- #8 Avery Kibelbek won her first match via pin over Kelly Enriquez of Wisconsin-Stevens Point before pinning Mackenzie Graves of Quincy. Following a 12-1 loss in the quarterfinals, she won an 8-0 decision in the wrestleback rounds before beating #7 Odelia Lopez 6-2, advancing to the third-place match, where she won 14-3 over #6 Brianne Graves of North Central.
- #6 Clare Booe won her first three matches, including a 13-3 tech fall win over Mikayla Garcia of North Central in the second round.
- After a quarterfinal decision win, she lost in the semis, 11-10 to #2 Sydney Petzinger of North Central. She beat #3 Melanie Mendoza 8-0 in the wrestleback round to advance to the third-place match, which she won 2-0.
- #3 Melanie Mendoza had a first round bye before pinning Tatiana Walker of Sacred Heart in 2:13. After a quarterfinal loss, she advanced through the wrestleback bracket via injury default before losing to Booe 8-0. She won the fifth-place match via injury default.
- #9 Mia Zuniga won her first two matches via pin, including a 1:48 pin of Tiffany Stoshak of Sacred Heart. After falling 10-0 in the quarterfinals, she won a 10-4 decision over #5 Madison Avila of North Central before falling 4-3 to #6 Brianne Graves before losing via pin in the fifth-place match.
- #7 Anna DiCugno won her first match via pin before beating Emmily Patneaud of Iowa 10-0 in the quarterfinals.
- After losing 10-0 in the semifinals, she lost her wrestleback match, sending her to the fifth-place match, which she won via injury default.
