Leonardo Mercondes scored in the 64th minute Tuesday night as the King University men's soccer team battled Converse to a 1-1 draw.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Converse got on the board 19 minutes into the match, taking a pass off a throw in and taking the 1-0 lead.
- The Valkyries continued to swarm the net, getting two straight corner kicks, along with a shot on goal that was saved by Gauthier Lumale.
- The Valkyries had another scoring chance in the 29th minute, as one shot was blocked before the follow-up shot sailed high.
- In the second half, Converse got a shot not even two minutes out of the break, but it was blocked by a Tornado defender.
- Lumale made another save in the 53rd minute, helping keep the score 1-0.
- King started to put pressure on the Converse defense in the 60th minute, as over the next two minutes the Tornado had two shots, one of which was a shot on goal, forcing the Converse goalkeeper to make a save.
- A few minutes later, Mercondes made his mark, scoring off a free kick to even the score at one.
- Lumale would end up making five shots in the final 25 minutes, including in the final minute that helped preserve the 1-1 draw.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- It was the first goal of the season for Mercondes, but it was his second consecutive match where he recorded a point after picking up an assist Saturday against Lees-McRae.
- Lumale finished with seven saves, tying his season-high.

- Hayden Gensler had the goal for the Valkyries, with Gabriel Verona getting the assist.
