Campbell earns NFCA, D2CCA All-America honors

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Jessica Campbell of the King University softball team continues to bring in postseason honors, as she was named to both the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-America first team and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America second team. 

This is the first time in program history that the Tornado have landed a first team all-american, and the second straight year that the Tornado have someone named to the D2CCA and NFCA all-america teams. 

Campbell, a native of Graysville, Tenn., previously was selected first team all-region by the NFCA and D2CCA, garnered first team All-Conference Carolinas & all-tournament team honors after helping King to their second straight regular season conference crown. Campbell leads NCAA Division II with 94 hits, a mark that ranks third in all of NCAA.

Nationally, Campbell ranks 2nd with a .480 batting average, 9th with 147 total bases, 16th with an average of 1.17 in runs per game. She set single season King school records in hits, batting average, on base percentage and runs scored and is second all-time in slugging percentage and total bases. Earlier this season she tied a school record with a 22-game hitting streak, ended the season on a 16-game hitting streak.

Starting a school-record 60 games, Campbell has only been held hitless seven times this season. Campbell posted 31 multiple hit games and 12 multiple RBI games and closed the season, going 7-for-10 with two doubles, drove in two and scored twice in three games at NCAA Southeast Regional.
