Froehlich named Freshman of the Year, Stubbs named All-Conference

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Taylor Stubbs and Ella Froehlich of the King University women's soccer team have received postseason honors from Conference Carolinas, with Stubbs earning First Team All-Conference honors, while Froehlich was named Freshman of the Year.

Stubbs, a senior from Murrieta, Calif., started all 16 matches she appeared in, scoring a team-high 11 goals, along with five assists. She had three multi-goal games, including a historic performance Sept. 27 against Lees-McRae, where she scored four goals, which is the second-most in the Tornado Division II era.

This season, she earned Player of the Week honors from Conference Carolinas (Oct. 3), Tennessee Sports Writers Association (Oct. 3) and United Soccer Coaches (Oct. 4). This is her first time being named all-conference in her career. She also becomes the first Tornado to be named first team all-conference since 2016.

Froehlich, a freshman from Sunbury, Ohio, finished the season with eight goals and five assists. She had a pair of multi-goal games, including the season finale at Erskine, when she scored twice and had an assist in a 7-1 win.

She was named Conference Carolinas and Tennessee Sports Writers Association Player of the Week Oct. 10. This is the first time that King has won freshman of the year in women's soccer since the 2014 season, and just the second time since joining Conference Carolinas.
