Belmont, N.C. – The King University women's soccer team delivered a disciplined and resilient performance on Tuesday evening but came up just short in a 1-0 setback at Belmont Abbey College. Despite being under pressure for much of the contest, the Tornado (6-8-1, 4-7-1 Conference Carolinas) remained competitive throughout, highlighted by an outstanding effort from goalkeeper
Olivia Seston.
First Half
King's defensive organization was on full display in the opening 45 minutes. Belmont Abbey generated 12 shots, including six on target, but Seston was sharp between the posts, turning away every attempt to keep the match scoreless at the break. The Tornado managed one shot in the half, showing composure and patience while absorbing the Crusaders' pressure.
Second Half
The decisive moment came just after halftime, when Belmont Abbey converted in the 46th minute. From there, King continued to battle, with Seston adding five more saves to finish with 11 stops on the night. Offensively,
Ella Froehlich provided both of King's shots on goal, forcing the Belmont Abbey goalkeeper into action and keeping the Tornado within striking distance until the final whistle.
Looking Ahead
Although the result did not favor King, the Tornado demonstrated the type of defensive resilience and competitive spirit that has defined their season. With Seston anchoring the back line and Froehlich continuing to create chances in attack, King enters the final stretch of the season with confidence and a foundation to build upon.
