BRISTOL, Tenn. –
Hailee Blankenship of the King University women's volleyball team and
Jordan Keith of the King University men's cross country team have been chosen by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as the Delta Blues SAAC Student-Athletes of the Month for October.
Blankenship, a senior from Goode, Va., averaged 3.84 kills and 2.98 digs per set. She set a career-high with 23 kills in consecutive matches, most recently Oct. 25 against Concord. During the month, she had double-doubles in eight of the 11 matches in which she played, and earned Player of the Week honors from both Conference Carolinas and the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA).
Keith, a senior from Laurel Bloomery, Tenn., competed in three races, including the Conference Carolinas championships and the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional. He set an 8K personal record at the Royals Challenge, finishing 56th in a loaded field with a time of 26:00.19.
Two weeks later at the conference championships, he brought home a fifth-place finish, earning all-conference honors for the second time in his career with a personal record 8K time of 25:25.5 He closed the month with a 10K personal record at the Southeast Regional meet, finishing in 32:30.9.
