BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's basketball team played the first half tight with UVA Wise, but the Cavaliers opened the second half on a run. UVA Wise gained separation in the third quarter and eventually took the contest 73-52.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Period
- Brianna Dunbar started the contest with a triple to put the Tornado ahead before four straight Cavalier points.
- King came back with five straight points as the Tornado took an 8-4 lead following baskets from Raven Addison and Ashley Allen.
- Torey Walker gave King a 10-7 lead before the Cavaliers scored the final four points in the final minute to take an 11-10 lead into the second quarter.
Second Period
- The UVA Wise run continued to 9-0 as the Cavaliers scored the first five points of the period to take a 16-10 lead.
- Baskets from Allen and Alayna Smith pulled King within 17-15 with three minutes remaining.
- Following a Cavalier basket, Walker made a jump shot before the Cavaliers made a three-point basket to take a 22-17 lead at the half.
Third Period
- UVA Wise turned the contest in the third quarter with a full court press. The Cavaliers scored the first seven points to take a 29-17 lead in the opening two minutes before Addison connected from long range.
- The Cavaliers then went on a 14-2 run, scoring eight straight to take a 44-22 lead midway through the period before an Allen basket.
- The King deficit grew to 52-29 before Jaelyn West made jump shot to pull King within 52-31 after the third quarter.
Fourth Period
- UVA Wise grabbed their largest lead of the game at 58-34 before King went on a 10-2 run to pull within 60-44. Smith scored six points on the Tornado spurt.
- A Walker basket pulled King within 62-48 midway through the period, but the Cavaliers responded with a run and extended their lead back to 20 points.
- The Tornado couldn't recover as UVA Wise took the contest 73-52.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Smith led the Tornado with 13 points and nine rebounds.
- Allen followed with eight points and 10 rebounds.
FOR THE FOES
- Katlin Burger led UVA Wise with 18 points and 13 rebounds.
- Mackenzie Bremer followed with 12 points and Caitlyn Ross chipped in with 11 points.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Allen now has three games of at least 10 rebounds this season.
