BRISTOL, Tenn. – Three members of the King University women's soccer team and two members of the King University men's soccer team were named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District.
Georgia Fisher,
Maggie Danroth and
Victoria Thauer garnered honors on the women's side while
Kirk Rahill and
Pedro Herrera earned the honors for the men.
Fisher, a senior from Burlington, Ontario, Canada, started all 17 games she appeared in, on the season, and has started all 33 games she has played in at King. She averaged over 82 minutes per match this year.
Danroth, a senior from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada who is making her second consecutive appearance on the CSC Academic All-District team, started all 17 games she played in, recording three assists, two of which came Oct. 27 in a historic 6-3 home win over local rival Lees-McRae College.
Thauer, a sophomore from Grand Island, N.Y., scored her lone goal of the season Sept. 30 at Barton. She went on to finish the season with seven shots on goal in 17 games played. She played the full 90 minutes in all but one match this season.
Rahill, a junior from Ardee, Ireland, played in 14 games, with 14 starts. His lone shot came Oct. 11 at Emmanuel while plying the full 90 minutes in 11 different matches.
Herrera, a senior from Cali Colombia, started all 16 games he appeared in, scoring three goals and recording a pair of assists. His first goal came Sept. 2, part of a 3-0 road win for the Tornado. He found the back of the net again Oct. 21 against North Greenville before adding a tally in the regular season finale at Erskine College. Both of his assists came Sept. 24 in a 2-0 win over Carolina University.
