BRISTOL, Tenn. –
Franky Medina of the King University men's wrestling team was named Conference Carolinas men's wrestler of the week Tuesday after going 7-0 last week, taking the 133-pound championship at the King Open.
Medina, a senior from Murfreesboro, Tenn., had three wins by major decision on the week, all of which came Saturday at the King Open. He started with two dual meet wins, including a 12-9 decision over Newberry's Ben Guilliam Friday night. He would go 5-0 Saturday, including a 2-1 victory over Guilliam in the championship match.
This is the second consecutive week that King has earned Conference Carolinas men's wrestler of the week, and the first weekly honor of Medina's career.
The Tornado will be back in action Dec. 2 for a nonconference dual at the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown. First whistle is set for 12 p.m.
