LUBBOCK, Texas – The King University women's basketball team got off to a solid start in the first quarter against UT Permian Basin on Friday afternoon. However, the Falcons played well on both ends of the floor in the final three periods to take the contest 95-52.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Period
- The Tornado shot 61.5 percent from the floor and 83.3 percent from three in the opening period, led by a pair of triples from Jaden Potts.
- Brianna Dunbar added a triple in the opening four minutes to give King a 9-6 lead.
- A Jaylasia Office basket and Jhayda McKinney triple stretched the King lead to 14-8 with three minutes remaining in the quarter.
- However, the Falcons closed the period on a 15-7 run, including a seven of the final nine points to take a 25-21 lead after the first 10 minutes.
Second Period
- The Falcons scored the first nine points of the second quarter to take a 34-21 lead before an Ashley Allen layup.
- UT Permian Basin used another 9-0 run to open up a 43-24 lead before another Allen layup.
- The Falcons closed the period with a triple to take a 56-30 lead into halftime.
Third Period
- The trend continued for the Falcons in the third quarter, using a 9-0 run to take a 65-32 lead before a Torey Walker layup.
- Le'Aije Ellington and McKinney followed with baskets for the Tornado, but King couldn't get any closer.
- Alexa Gramann scored the final points of the quarter for the Tornado, but King trailed 75-42 going to the fourth period.
Fourth Period
- Following a Walker layup to start the period, the Falcons scored seven straight points to take an 82-44 lead.
- The King deficit stayed there as the Falcons took the contest 95-52.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- McKinney led the Tornado with 10 points while Gramann followed with eight points and five rebounds.
FOR THE FOES
- Khiara Flugence led UT Permian Basin with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
- Andreea Mancha added 15 points and Holly Hemmeline chipped in with 14 points.

- King closes play in Texas on Saturday when they host Lubbock Christian University who is receiving votes in the Women's Basketball Coaches Assocation (WBCA) poll and is ranked 22nd in the D2CSC (College Sports Communicators) poll. Tipoff from Lubbock, Texas is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. (ET).
