DUE WEST, S.C. – The King University men's soccer team narrowly dropped their season finale, 2-1 to Erskine College Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first scoring chance for the Tornado came in the eighth minute when Ricky Sexton hit the right post.
- Erskine got on the board first, scoring in the 28th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
- After Pedro Herrera took a shot that went wide, the Flying Fleet took a shot at the other end, but Anthony Bernardi made his fourth save of the night.
- The Flying Fleet scored another goal in the 38th minute, taking a 2-0 lead.
- King would take two shots in the closing minutes, but were unable to connect, and they entered the halftime break trailing 2-0.
- Herrera took another shot in the 52nd minute but was unable to beat the goalie.
- He finally found the back of the net in the 72nd minute, bringing the Tornado to within 2-1.
- In the 81st minute, Kenneth Walton took a shot that was blocked, resulting in a King corner kick.
- On the corner kick, Leeroy Matarutse would get a shot off, but it was stopped by the Erskine goalie.
- King had a series of chances in the closing minutes, including a free kick and corner kick in the final minute, but were unable to net the match-tying goal.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- It was the third goal of the year for Herrera, who finishes the season second on the team in scoring.
- Bernardi made five saves on the night.
- Ricky Sexton, Matarutse and John Clark all had shots on goal for King.
FOR THE FOES
- Gustavo Avina and Parker Hope had the goals for Erskine, with Hudson Lewis and Quinlan Van Arkel getting assists.
- Evan Zizek made four saves on the night.
