BRISTOL, Tenn. – After winning both of his matches via first period pin,
Austin Kolikas of the King University men's wrestling team has been named the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Wrestler of the Week. This is the first time in his career that he has received this honor from the conference office.
Kolikas, a senior from Culpeper, Va., went 2-0 on the week, winning a conference match against Taylor Robinson of Mount Olive in 1:52, gaining six team points that ended up being huge in the dual, which King won 22-15. In his second match, he pinned Stanley Lal of Truett McConnell in 1:27.
On the season, Kolikas is 7-7, with five of those wins coming via pin. His quickest pin came in 52 seconds, which is third-quickest on the team this season.
The Tornado will take to the mat on Thursday night, for a pair of South Atlantic Conference Carolinas duals, starting with Lincoln Memorial at 7:30 p.m. before closing the night against UNC Pembroke, with both matches being hosted by Lincoln Memorial.
