ROMEOVILLE, ILL. – The King University men's volleyball team kickoff of a four-match road trip on Wednesday night at 15th-ranked Lewis University. The Tornado hung with the Flyers in the opening set, but the Lewis offense was too much for the Tornado as King fell 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- King and Lewis traded blows early, but the Flyers looked to gain some separation with a 4-0 run to take a 9-5 lead.
- The Tornado deficit grew to five on a pair of occasions, but King fought back in the second half of the set.
- An AJ Drooker kill pulled the Tornado within 14-12 before the teams traded points again.
- Lewis stretched their lead to 21-15 before King called for a timeout.
- The Tornado took another timeout trailing 23-16, and out of the break, King scored a pair of points, but couldn't put a run together as the Flyers took the set 25-19.
Second Set
- Lewis got off to a hot start, taking a 5-1 lead before a Mason Martindale kill.
- King fought back and pulled within 12-10 following a 3-0 spurt.
- Kellan Kennedy started the run with a kill and capped it with an ace while Sean Haberthy and Drooker teamed up for a block in the middle.
- However, the Flyers went on a 5-1 run to regain separation and take and 18-13 lead.
- Lewis then went on to take the set 25-16.
Third Set
- The Flyers again got off to a hot start, taking a 6-2 lead following a 4-0 run.
- The King deficit grew to 10-4 before the teams started to trade points.
- King couldn't get a run going as the Flyers used another 4-0 run late to take the set 25-15 and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Drooker and Kennedy led the Tornado with eight kills each.
- Kennedy hit .583 in the match, making only one error on 12 attempts.
- Jack Sarnowski handed out 24 assists while Martindale posted five digs.
FOR THE FOES
- Christian Prayer led Lewis with 12 kills and four aces while Max Roquet added eight kills.
- Kevin Kauling handed out 17 assists and John Davis posted eight digs.

- King stays on the road to take on 12th-ranked Loyal University of Chicago on Thursday afternoon. First serve from Chicago is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (ET).
