Box Score ANDERSON, S.C. – The King University softball team stayed alive on Friday when they defeated eighth seed Francis Marion University in the NCAA Southeast Regional. The Tornado received a complete game performance in the circle from
Nikole Counts to defeat the Patriots 5-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Francis Marion took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a hit by pitch, walk and Tornado defensive miscue.
- However, the Tornado turned a double play to end the inning before evening the score in the second inning.
- Dye started the second inning with a double before scoring a Haag sacrifice fly.
- In the bottom of the inning, Francis Marion put runners on second and third with no outs, but Counts got back-to-back strikeouts and a groundout to end the threat.
- King grabbed the lead in the fourth inning when Lauren Lawson reached on an infield single with two outs.
- Foster then singled through the left side, scoring two and giving King a 4-1 lead.
- Rikkelle Miller started the fifth inning with a single and later scored on a groundout, extending the King lead to 5-1.
- Following a hit by pitch to start the fifth inning, Counts retired the final nine batters she faced to give King the 5-1 victory.
