Miller, Foster named D2CCA All-Southeast Region

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Prior to the start of the  NCAA Regional Championships, the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) announced their all-region awards. Rikkelle Miller garnered first team honors and Erin Foster was named to the second team.

The duo are the seventh and eighth players in program history to earn all-region honors from the D2CCA. Miller is the second Tornado to garner first team honors, joining Hannah Riddle in 2018. King's previous second team honorees are Hannah Light (2013, 2014), Jenna Burnett (2018), Kay Brokering (2019), Nikole Counts and Meagan Puckett, both in 2021.

Miller ranks eighth in southeast region with a .756 slugging percentage, sixth with 69 hits, and 13th with 16 doubles. Her 15 home runs rank fourth in the region and her 49 runs batted in is good enough for 10th. She also owns an OPS of 1.193.

She is second on the team with 18 multi-hit games and 13 multi-RBI games. This season she had a 16-game hitting streak and 28-game reached base streak. She helped King clinch a share of the Conference Carolinas regular season title as she hit home runs in each end of a doubleheader sweep of Emmanuel College. In the Conference Carolinas Softball Championship, she hit a home run in the semifinal game to tie the game and the game-winning home run in the final, giving King the 1-0 win over Francis Marion University.

Foster was previously selected first team All-Conference Carolinas. She owns 17 multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI games. Foster has scored at least two runs in 11 games this season and is among the Conference Carolinas leaders in numerous offensive categories. She ranks sixth in the league with 46 runs scored and 19th in southeast region in runs per game at 0.94. Foster is hitting .353 on the season with an on base percentage of .453 and slugging percentage of .607. Of her 53 hits, she has 11 doubles, three triples and seven home runs.

Foster, Miller and the Tornado will be in action in the NCAA Southeast Regional at Anderson University on Thursday. The fourth seed Tornado take on fifth seeded Lincoln Memorial University at 2:30 p.m.
