BRISTOL, Tenn. –
Rikkelle Miller of the King University softball team can add another award to her collection as she was selected National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Southeast Region. She is only the second player in program history to be selected first team all-region by the NFCA.
Miller was selected first team All-Conference Carolinas and earns NFCA All-Region honors for the first time. She has played both third base and catcher as she was selected All-Region at non-pitcher/utility.
She is the second Tornado to earn first team all-region accolades from the NFCA, joining Hannah Riddle in 2018. In all, she is the fifth individual to be selected all-region by the NFCA. Riddle was selected second team in 2017 and first team in 2018 while Kaycee Casteel (2017), Jenna Burnett (2018) and
Nikole Counts (2021) all garnered second team honors.
Miller ranks eighth in southeast region with a .756 slugging percentage, sixth with 69 hits, and 13th with 16 doubles. Her 15 home runs rank fourth in the region and her 49 runs batted in is good enough for 10th. She also owns an OPS of 1.193.
She is second on the team with 18 multi-hit games and 13 multi-RBI games. This season she had a 16-game hitting streak and 28-game reached base streak. She helped King clinch a share of the Conference Carolinas regular season title as she hit home runs in each end of a doubleheader sweep of Emmanuel College. In the Conference Carolinas Softball Championship, she hit a home run in the semifinal game to tie the game and the game-winning home run in the final, giving King the 1-0 win over Francis Marion University.
Miller and the Tornado will be in action in the NCAA Southeast Regional at Anderson University on Thursday. The fourth seed Tornado take on fifth seeded Lincoln Memorial University at 2:30 p.m.
