DUNCAN, S.C. – The top seeded King University softball team stayed undefeated in the Conference Carolinas Softball Championship with a win over fifth seeded Francis Marion University. The Tornado scored all four of their runs in the second inning to take the contest 4-3.

KING HIGHLIGHTS
- Tinsley Thompson led the Tornado with two hits and drove in three runs
- Four Tornado accounted for one run scored and four other posted one hit each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Francis Marion took the lead with a two-out double off the fence that scored one.
- The Patriot lead extended to 2-0 with another two-out run, this one coming on a bases loaded groundout.
- However, Carly Turner left runners on the corners in the inning.
- Back-to-back singles from Haylee Dye and Lauren Lawson before an error loaded the bases.
- Thompson then ripped a double up the middle that cleared the bases.
- Thompson later scored on an Erin Foster single to give King a 4-2 lead.
- The Patriots threatened in the third, but Marleigh Duncan entered in the fourth and retired first six batters she faced.
- Francis Marion got a rally going in the sixth, putting two runners on before a Grace Trautman single scored one and pulled the Patriots within 4-3.
- However, Duncan got the final two outs to end the threat.
- Duncan then retired the Patriots in order in the seventh, giving King the 4-3 victory.

- Trautman posted two hits and drove in one to lead Francis Marion.
