NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The top-ranked King University women's wrestling team faced some of the nation's top competition on Sunday at the North Central College Open. The Tornado had individuals entered in 8-of-10 weight classes and finished second in the team standings with four individual champions. All 12 Tornado that entered the event placed.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jessica Corredor, Sage Mortimer Samara Chavez and Ana Luciano all took home titles for the Tornado.
- Ranked third at 101 pounds, Corredor won all three of her bouts, including a 12-8 decision over fifth-ranked teammate Avery Kibelbek in the title match.
- At 109 pounds, second-ranked Mortimer went 4-0 with two wins over ranked North Central College foes. She defeated fifth-ranked Kendra Ryan on a 14-4 technical fall in a semifinal before pinning top-ranked Sydney Petzinger in the championship match.
- Chavez, ranked second at 116 pounds, took the crown at 116 pounds with three pins.
- In the championship she pinned top-ranked Jaslynn Gallegos of North Central in 2:26.
- Ranked atop the 143-pound weight class, Luciano won all four of her bouts by technical fall to take the title. In the championship she defeated third-ranked Katie Lange of Augsburg University.
- At 109 pounds, third-ranked Diana Holmes finished third with her lone defeat to top-ranked Petzinger. She earned wins over eighth-ranked Pauline Granados of McKendree University 6-2 and fifth-ranked Ryan, 9-6 in the third-place match.
- Third-ranked Danielle Garcia finished third at 116 pounds. Her lone defeat came to top-ranked Gallagos, but she defeated eighth-ranked Amaya Yoshizumi twice, including a 3:16 pin in the third-place bout.
- At 123 pounds, third-ranked Vayle-Rae Baker finished runner-up and Melanie Mendoza came in fourth.
- Baker earned a pair of 10-0 technical fall wins before a 3-2 decision over Augsburg's Gabby Skidmore. In the title bout, she fell to sixth-ranked Amani Jones of North Central.
- Mendoza fell to Jones in a quarterfinal before three straight wins, including a 5-3 win over Skidmore. In the third-place match, she fell to fifth-ranked Payton Stroud of McKendree 3-2.
- Ranked second at 130 pounds, Montana DeLawder finished fifth with a 4-2 record. She took three wins by fall, including 43-second pin of Lindenwood University's Cayden Condit who was ranked second at 123 pounds.
- DeLawder fell to top-ranked Cameron Guerin of McKendree in the consolation semifinal before taking a 10-0 technical fall over Augsburg's Autumn Flanigan to take fifth.
- Ranked fifth at 143 pounds, Viktorya Torres competed at 136 pounds and finished third with a 4-1 record. She opened with a pin and technical fall before a defeat against second-ranked Yele Aycock of North Central. Torres then earned a pair of decisions to finish third.
- Ranked fourth at 155 pounds, Tiffani Baublitz finished fourth with a 3-2 record. She started with a pair of pins before falling to eighth-ranked Brooklyn Hays of Augsburg 4-2 in a semifinal.
- Baublitz then faced a pair of North Central foes in the consolation bracket, defeating London Houston 4-3 and falling to Tiera Jimerson in the third-place match.
