BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's volleyball team won their seventh straight match on Friday night, taking their fourth straight sweep. The Tornado defeated Emmanuel College 3-0, handing the Lions their second Conference Carolinas defeat of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- Julie Ward set the tone early with consecutive kills as King took an early 3-0 lead.
- The teams then went back-and-forth until the Lions used three straight points to take a 17-16 lead.
- Emmanuel held the advantage until King scored three straight points to take a 22-20 lead.
- Following a block from Kayley Holtzclaw and Allie Zimmerman, another Ward kill gave King the 25-22 victory.
Second Set
- King used five straight points, a Ward kill followed by three straight Georgia Davis service aces and a Holtzclaw kill to take a 10-5 lead.
- Hailee Blankenship then served three aces on a 6-0 spurt that gave King a 17-6 advantage.
- The Tornado then cruised to the 25-12 victory.
Third Set
- Emmanuel took a 10-7 lead before a block from Brittney Ramsey and Ward started a 5-0 King spurt.
- A Ramsey solo stuff capped the run that vaulted King to a 12-10 lead.
- The Tornado held that lead and used a 3-0 run to take a 23-19 lead as the Tornado closed the match on a 5-1 run.
- King then scored the final two points to take the set 25-20 and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Blankenship led the Tornado with 10 kills and five digs.
- Ward followed with eight kills and 11 digs.
- Abigail Shaffer led the back row with 15 digs.
- Davis added 12 assist and eight digs.
- Ramsey and Holtzclaw accounted for four blocks each.
FOR THE FOES
- Mia Cotton led Emmanuel with nine kills while Hallie Richardson followed with six kills.
- Aleksandra Hamuda posted 19 digs and added five kills.
- Victoria Alexander chipped in with 13 digs.
