BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's volleyball team won their eighth straight match on Saturday, taking their fifth straight sweep. The Tornado defeated Erskine College 3-0 behind a one of their best blocking matches of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- A pair of kills and a service ace from Julie Ward gave King an early 3-1 advantage, a lead the Tornado held throughout the set.
- Kayley Holtzclaw gave King a 15-9 lead and capped a 5-1 Tornado run with a kill.
- King later scored six straight points to put the set out of reach before an Allie Zimmeran kill gave King the 2515 victory.
Second Set
- Erskine took a 6-3 lead in the early going of the second set before the Tornado came back in the middle of the frame.
- Holtzclaw started a 5-0 King run with a kill and Zimmeran gave the Tornado an 11-9 lead with another termination.
- King led 18-14 following a 3-0 run, and Erskine called a timeout.
- Out of the break, the Flying Fleet scored four straight points to even the set.
- Three consecutive Erskine points gave the Flying Fleet a 23-21 lead when the Tornado called a timeout.
- King answered with three straight points as a block from Hailee Blankenship and Brittney Ramsey gave King a 24-23 lead.
- King then the scored the final two points, the last on a Blankenship kill to take the set 26-24.
Third Set
- A pair of blocks pushed the Tornado to a 4-2 lead early in the third set.
- King gained separation with a 6-0 run that was capped by back-to-back Georgia Davis service aces.
- Five straight Flying Fleet points cut the King lead to 12-10, but King responded by scoring six of the next eight points to take an 18-12 lead.
- King the cruised to the 25-18 victory that was capped by an Abigale Jayne kill to take the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Holtzclaw led King with nine kills and added four blocks, three solo.
- Ramsey followed with seven kills and added seven blocks.
- Jayne accounted for seven kills and 14 digs.
- Katie Harless handed out 17 assists to go along with eight digs while Abigail Shaffer posted nine digs.
FOR THE FOES
- Katie Tuisamatalele led Erskine with seven kills.
- Jauhna Smith followed with six kills.
- Reilly Bartlett handed out 15 assists and Megan Thees posted 15 digs.
