BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's volleyball team took another sweep on Wednesday night, defeating Southern Wesleyan University. King used a late run in the second set to take a 2-0 lead before putting the 3-0 victory away with a 25-21 win in the third set.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- A block from Hailee Blankenship and Brittney Ramsey, followed by a Blankenship kill gave King an early 4-1 lead.
- The Tornado later scored four straight points, started by a Kayley Holtzclaw kill and Georgia Davis ace.
- Consecutive kill from Julie Ward and Allie Zimmerman gave King a 9-3 advantage.
- The Warriors fought back and evened the score at 12 before back-to-back Tornado points.
- King opened up an 18-15 lead with three straight points as the Warriors called for a timeout.
- Holtzclaw and Ward registered back-to-back kills that gave King a 23-17 lead before Zimmerman and Ramsey teamed up for a block that gave the Tornado the 25-19 victory.
Second Set
- Southern Wesleyan scored the first three points, but King came back and evened the tally at 5-5.
- The Warriors later opened up a 15-12 lead with three straight points and held a 16-13 lead when the Tornado went on a run.
- King scored nine straight points, eight coming on Tornado kills.
- Holtzclaw and Blankenship accounted for three kills each as Zimmerman and Ward added kills on the spurt that put King ahead 22-16.
- The Tornado then scored three of the final five points to take the set 25-18.
Third Set
- Ramsey and Blankenship again teamed up for a block that gave King a 4-1 lead in the early going.
- The Warriors evened the score at 6-6 before a Holtzclaw kill started a 4-0 King spurt.
- Ward gave King a 10-6 lead with a kill to end the run.
- Southern Wesleyan came back to pull within 16-15, but King came back with three straight points to take a 19-15 advantage following another Holtzclaw kill.
- Ramsey eventually gave King the 25-21 win and the 3-0 victory with a kill.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Ward led King with 15 kills and nine digs.
- Holtzclaw followed with 11 kills and a .412 attack percentage. She added three blocks.
- Blankenship chipped in with nine kills and 12 digs.
- Ramsey added five kills and five blocks.
- Abigail Shaffer led the defense with 23 digs.
- Davis handed out 24 assists and added eight digs.
- Katie Harless added 16 assists and six digs.
FOR THE FOES
- Olivia Johnson led Southern Wesleyan with eight kills and 11 digs.
- Kaylyn Woods recorded 19 digs.
