BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's volleyball team earned another Conference Carolinas win on Friday night, defeating Chowan University.
Hailee Blankenship led the Tornado offense in the 3-0 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- Blankenship started the match with seven kills in the opening set.
- Her first kill of the match started a 6-0 Tornado run as she capped the spurt with a consecutive kills that gave King a 10-2 lead.
- King later scored the final three points of the set, two on kill from Blankenship to take the set 25-10.
Second Set
- Brittney Ramsey recorded two kills on a 5-1 run that gave King a 5-2 lead.
- However, Chowan came back and evened the score at 10 before the teams traded points.
- King broke the tie with back-to-back points to take a 14-12 lead and gradually extended that advantage.
- A 3-0 spurt gave King a 22-17 lead before another Blankenship kill gave King the set 25-19.
Third Set
- Back-to-back Georgia Davis service aces gave King an 8-4 lead in the early going of the third set.
- The Tornado advantage grew to 14-7 following a block from Allie Zimmerman and Ramsey.
- Ramsey and Blankenship teamed up for a block that put King ahead 19-10 before and Abigale Jayne kill gave King the 25-17 win to take the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Blankenship led King with 12 kills, eight digs and two blocks.
- Kayley Holtzclaw followed with eight kills and three blocks while hitting .615.
- Julie Ward added seven kills and seven digs.
- Katie Harless handed out 24 assists and added seven digs.
- Abigail Shaffer chipped in with seven digs.
FOR THE FOES
- Anixa Rosa-Martinez led Chowan with nine kills and nine digs.
- Katie Houston followed with six kills and eight digs.
- Ciara Ortega handed out 22 assists and Natalia Vega-Aponte registered 10 digs.
UP NEXT
- King remains at home to take on Southern Wesleyan University on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
- Chowan travels to Lees-McRae College on Saturday.
