Tornado battle Warriors, fall in second halff

BRISTOL, Tenn. — Ruben Laureano scored his first goal of the season on Wednesday, but the Southern Wesleyan offense was too much for the Tornado defense to handle, as they fell 4-1.

FINAL SCORE: Southern Wesleyan University 4, King University 1
LOCATION: Parks Field; Bristol, Tenn.
RECORDS: King 2-5-1, 0-5 Conference Carolinas; Southern Wesleyan 3-5, 2-3 Conference Carolinas

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Warriors dominated time of possession early, recording two shots in the first six minutes, with neither finding their way to Tornado goalkeeper Dalton Gammon
  • The Tornado got the first shot on goal of the match in the 11th minute when Laureano took a shot that was saved by the Warriors keeper.
  • Laureano took another shot on goal a few minutes later, again forcing the keeper to make a save.
  • SWU got on the board in the 24th minute on a Hykeen Martin goal off a free kick from just outside the box.
  • It didn't take long for the Tornado to tie things up, as Josh Clements and Ben Delisle set Laureano up for his first goal of the season in the 30th minute.
  • The match was tied at halftime, but in the second half it was all SWU, as they scored three goals, including two in the final 10 minutes to take the 4-1 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Laureano's goal was the first King goal since Sept. 14 when they scored three in a win over Emory & Henry.
