Box Score 2 HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The King University softball team concluded play at the Coker Tournament with a pair of tough losses on Sunday. The Tornado fell to the University of Charleston 6-0 in the opening game before dropping a 4-0, eight-inning affair to Bloomsburg University in the final game of the tournament.

SERIES HIGHLIGHTS
- Hannah Devotie led the Tornado with three hits on the day, going 2-for-4 against Charleston.
- Amber Walker also went 2-for-4 against Charleston.
GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS - Charleston
- King threatened to get on the board in the top of the second inning, putting two runners on, but they were left on base.
- Charleston grabbed the lead in the bottom of the second when they scored on a groundout.
- The Golden Eagles added three more in the fourth, two on a single from Alayna Carlson and another on a bunt from Kelly Browning.
- In the fifth, the Golden Eagles put the game out of reach with a run scoring double from Rachelle Toppings and a single from Katelyn Hamilton to take a 6-0 lead.
- The Tornado threatened in the seventh inning as Hannah Smith started a two-out rally with a single to center. A hit by pitch and walk loaded the bases, but Charleston got the final out for the 6-0 win.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS - Bloomsburg
- The contest turned into a pitcher's duel between Sarah Bortner of Bloomsburg and Hayley Smothers of King.
- Neither pitcher allowed more than one hit in through the first five innings. There was only one inning where a team had two base runners in an inning, the second inning for Bloomsburg.
- Diamond Callwood ripped a leadoff double for the Tornado in the fourth, but Bortner sat the Tornado down in order after that.
- The Huskies threatened to take the lead in the sixth with back-to-back singles to start the inning. A sacrifice bunt put runners on second and third, but Smothers got a strikeout and foul out to end the inning.
- Bloomsburg again had two runners in the seventh, but Smother got a pair of fly outs to end the inning.
- King was unable to score in the bottom of the seventh, sending the game to extra innings.
- In the top of the eight, Bloomsburg grabbed the lead on a fielder's choice before Erica Keen ripped a three-run home run, giving the Huskies a 4-0 lead.
- The Tornado couldn't get the offense going in the bottom of the inning as Bloomsburg took the contest 4-0.

FOR THE FOES
- Toppings went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI to lead Charleston from the leadoff spot.
- Hamilton went 2-for-4 with three runs batted in while Allison Evans went 2-for-2 for Charleston.
- Keen led Bloomsburg with those three runs batted in on her only hit of the contest.
- Taylor Winkelman and Taylor Parker both registered two hits.
