Box Score 2 HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The King University softball team split day one at the Coker College tournament. The Tornado kicked off the day with a 5-2 victory over West Virginia State and were defeated by Coker College 6-5 in game two after eight innings.

SERIES HIGHLIGHTS
- Jennifer Kern went 2-for-3 in game one and drove in three runs highlighted by a two-run home run, her fifth of the season.
- Hannah Smith went 3-for-3 in game one, tallying two runs batted in.
- In game two Alliyah Sands posted her second home run of the season that would be the tying run in the bottom of the seventh.
GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS – West Virginia State
- The Tornado would get on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Hannah Devotie singled to second base, stole second, advanced to third on a ground out, and would be drove in by a Smith single to center field.
- West Virginia State would answer with a one run home run in the second and each defense would hold the other from scoring in the third.
- Fueling the offense in the bottom of the fourth, Sand posted a double to start the inning and Smith would drive her in on a single to right field.
- Building on the momentum, Kern then crushed a two run home run giving the Tornado a 4-1 lead through four innings.
- The Yellow Jackets tried to rally in the sixth starting with a one run home run, followed by a couple singles and an error that would load the bases but a Smothers strike-out and a fly out to right field would end the inning.
- King would add another run in the bottom of the sixth when Kern singled to center field and would score Smith who had singled earlier, reached second on a fielder's choice, and advanced to third on a wild pitch.
- Smothers would hold West Virginia to one hit and no runs in the seventh as King would take a 5-2 victory.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS – Coker
- Each defense held the other scoreless through two innings before Coker would score a run on a sacrifice fly out to right field.
- King would answer back in the bottom of the third after Sands singled to right field and Devotie would score on a passed ball.
- Kern would then single to center field driving in Sands taking a 2-1 lead through three.
- The Cobras scored two unearned in the top of the fourth behind three Tornado errors taking a 3-2 advantage.
- In the bottom on the seventh Sands would rip a one run home run to tie the game 3-3 and send it into extra inning.
- Coker posted a three-run home run in the eighth taking a 6-3 lead with the Tornado up to bat.
- Olivia Lawson led off for the Tornado with a home run with a runner placed on second bringing King within one run, trailing 6-5 but King was unable to rallying as Coker would grab three outs in a row after a pitching change.

FOR THE FOES
- Brittany Allison led the Yellow Jackets with two hits, a home run, and one run batted in.
- Ashley Gallman led the Cobras with three hits, and two runs batted in.
- Corrine Stiles recorded two hits for Coker including the game winning home run in the eighth.
