King drops dual at Converse

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The King University women's tennis team returned to Conference Carolinas action on Friday when they traveled to Converse College. Katya Cerny earned the lone win for the Tornado as Converse took the match 8-1.

The Valkyries (4-9, 3-4 CC) started the dual with an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles and 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles to take a 3-0 lead. Cerny got the Tornado (2-13, 2-7 CC) on the board in singles play, winning her second flight match. She dropped the first set to Kaitlin Knight 7-6 (10-8), but rebounded to take the second set 6-4 and the third set 10-8 for the victory.

However, Converse won the other four singles matches in straight sets, winning the last one by default for the 8-1 victory.

King will be in action again on Saturday when they travel to take on Limestone at 2:00 p.m.
