FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The King University women's tennis team opened Conference Carolinas play with a road victory at Emmanuel College. The Tornado split two doubles matches and came back to win three singles matches to take the dual 4-3.
Emmanuel's No. 1 doubles duo took an 8-1 victory to start the match, but Nia Gilliam and Amanda Huffaker came back for the Tornado (1-3, 1-0 CC), taking an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, the Lions (0-1, 0-1 CC) took the first two flights before Haley Maloney topped Abby Frauslo 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Huffaker then took a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles and Pearl Annan earned a win by default at No. 5 singles to give King the dual 4-3.
King will be in action again tomorrow when they take on NCAA Division I opponent UNC Asheville. The dual is slated to start at 12:00 p.m.
