DUE WEST, S.C. – The King University women's tennis team was back in action for their second matchup of the weekend, this time against Erskine College. However, the Tornado fell to the Flying Fleet 9-0 in the Conference Carolinas contest.
The Flying Fleet (2-3, 2-0 CC) took all three doubles matches starting with an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. No. 2 doubles went the same way for the Tornado (1-6, 1-2 CC), this time falling 8-0. The final doubles match of the day was won by Erskine by default.
In singles play, Nia Gilliam fell to McDonald 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match. Katya Cerny fell in No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-0 before Erskine won the next two matches 6-0, 6-0. Pearl Annan was defeated in No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-0 before the Flying Fleet won the final match by default.
King will take the courts next on Friday, March 6 when they will travel to the University of Mount Olive. First serve is set to begin at 1:00 pm.
