Box Score BRISTOL, Tenn. – When you play against one of the top teams in the country, it's always nice to have that match at home, and that is what the King University men's soccer team faced on Wednesday afternoon. The Tornado hosted 13th-ranked Carson-Newman University and played the first half even with the Eagles. However, Carson-Newman scored two goals in the second half to take the contest 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles didn't waste any time lighting up the scoreboard, netting the game's first goal in the sixth minute. Bruno Andrade took a pass from Tom Read and placed his shot high, just out of the reach of the goalkeeper.
- Carson-Newman had another chance in the seventh minute, but the shot was turned away by Kari Sveinsson.
- King then had a pair of opportunities in the 29th minute on a shot from Eli Carrasco that was saved, and followed by a corner kick. Luis Calderon then ripped a shot high.
- The Tornado finally broke through in the 34th minute when Alfred Schwab took a ball that was cleared by the defense and dribbled down the field. He then found Carrasco on his right who laced a shot past the goalkeeper to even the score.
- The score remained tied at halftime, but the Eagles struck early in the second half as Read put Carson-Newman ahead in the 50th minute. He took a through ball from Rurik Pereira and placed his shot into the right of the net.
- The Eagles added another tally in the 73rd minute when Read handed out another assist, this time to Marius Staalby on another through ball. Staalby then put his shot into the left side of the net.
- Carson-Newman outshot the Tornado 24-8, placing 10 shots on goal to King's three.
- The Eagles also had the advantage in corner kicks, 7-1.
- Sveinsson registered seven saves for the Tornado.
FOR THE FOES
- Andrade scored his second goal of the season while Read and Staalby both added their sixth tallies of the year.
- Kavi Luchowa registered two saves for the shutout.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- For Carrasco the goal marked his third goal of the season, all coming in the last four matches.
- In all, Carrasco has scored three of King's last four goals.
UP NEXT
- King will be in action again on Saturday at Parks Field when they host the nation's #1 team, Pfeiffer University. Kickoff is slated for 3:00 p.m.
- Carson-Newman hosts Brevard College on Saturday night.
