King tops Emmanuel to win final fall dual match

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The King University women's tennis played their final dual match of the fall, and posted their third win on Saturday afternoon. The Tornado took a 9-0 road triumph over Emmanuel College to push their dual match record to 3-2.

The Tornado jumped ahead early, taking all three doubles matches from the Lions. Ashley Salazar and partner Katya Cerny took their No. 1 doubles match over Christianne Tetley and Olivia Gish 8-2 while Mariana Hosomi and Claudia Morris topped Jaclyn Klerk and Leanna Tucker 8-2 at No. 2 doubles. King took the final doubles match by default since the Lions only had four players.

The success continued in singles play as Naomi Reyes took a 6-0, 6-2 win over Tetley at the No. 1 flight, and Alyssa Salazar topped Gish 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, Morris took a 6-1, 7-5 win over Klerk while Haley Maloney defeated Tucker 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.

This marks the last fall event for the Tornado. They will be in action again on February 18 when they host Tusculum College at the King Tennis Complex.
