MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Trojans of Mount Olive College finished off the weekend, three-game series with the King Tornado, serving King a 14-4 loss on Sunday afternoon. The Tornado exit the weekend with a 12-8 overall record and fall to 5-4 in Conference Carolinas play.

Mount Olive jumped on the Tornado early with four runs in the first inning. King starting pitcher Danny Laperna surrendered and pair of singles and a two-RBI triple to Jermaine Berry to give MOC a quick 3-0 lead. Berry later scored on a ground out to short to bump the lead four.

The Trojans posted a six-run third inning behind a pair of two-RBI singles by Bryan Dunlavey and Antonio Callaway. Up 10-0 after three innings, Mount Olive added a run in the following four innings, putting two on David Pritchard's line and one on Brandon Houser. Dustin Pannell threw a scoreless eighth to close out the MOC offensive output.

King struck first with a pair of runs after Cody Snyder and Hunter Smith each put up one-out singles before a fielding error allowed Snyder to score and extend the inning. Smith came around to score on a fielder's choice hit to the right side of the infield to go up 2-0 before the Trojans burst at the plate.

Garrett Cook (Luray, Va.) hit his sixth home run of the season, a two-out, two-run shot in the top of the fifth. The blast made the score 11-4 at the time and was King's third of six hits on the day.

The Tornado will play a doubleheader on the road against Lincoln Memorial University on March 14, beginning at 2:00 p.m. They will return to the King College Baseball Complex on March 17 for two against St. Andrews Presbyterian College, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
