BRISTOL, Tenn. - King College lost in men's and women's tennis action Wednesday against the visitors from Queens University of Charlotte with the women's match having a 6-0 score with a 5-1 decision on the men's side.
In the women's match Queens, with a 9-2 record on the season, jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles by winning with a combined score of 24-7. The visitors wrapped up the match with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles.
The Lady Tornado went to 6-6 after the match.
On the men's side Queens once again posted a 3-0 doubles score with King winning five games. King got on the board thanks to Pablo Vidal's (Madrid, Spain) win at No. 2 singles 3-6, 6-4 and 7-5 over David Hannon. Queens won at No. 3 and No. 4 singles to close out the contest while the No. 1 match was in the third set with Jose Avila (Cuernavaca, Mexico) serving for the victory.
The Tornado owns an 8-4 record after Wednesday. Queens went to 7-2.
The King men and women will separate for the next matches on the schedule as the Lady Tornado travels to future Conference Carolinas foe Converse (S.C.) College for a 2:30 p.m. match on March 16 while the Tornado have a March 17 contest at NCAA Division I opponent UNC Asheville. King returns home for men's and women's action on March 23 against nearby Milligan (Tenn.) College.
