PEMBROKE, N.C. – The King University men's wrestling team placed fourth at the inaugural Conference Carolinas men's wrestling championships, dropping their first match 25-18 to #6 UNC Pembroke before falling 30-9 to RV Newberry College in the third-place match.

HOW IT HAPPENED – UNC Pembroke
- UNCP won the 125-pound match via pin, taking a 6-0 lead.
- At 133 pounds, Franky Medina pinned Logan Robinson in 4:01 to tie the score.
- UNC Pembroke then won the next five bouts, before Clint Morrisette won a 11-4 decision at 184 pounds to make the score 25-6.
- At 197 pounds, Ethan Lopez won via pin, beating Garrett Steele in 6:09 while Jacob Telles won a 6-3 decision at 285 pounds, making the final score 25-18 in favor of the host Braves.
HOW IT HAPPENED – Newberry
- The Wolves won the first two matches, one via pin and one via tech fall to take an early 11-0 lead.
- Nico Crosnoe got the Tornado on the board at 141 pounds, earning a 5-1 decision over JP Games.
- After two more Newberry wins, Trent Mahoney won a narrow 7-6 decision at 165 pounds over Patrick Wunderlich, pulling King to within 17-6.
- At 184 pounds Morrisette won his second match of the day, a 7-5 decision over Armando Acosta.
- Newberry would win the final two bouts, including a pin at 197 pounds and a decision at 285 pounds to take the match 30-9.

- All three teams will be in action March 2 when they compete at the Super Region II championships, hosted by Lander University.
