King posts solid day at Coker Duals

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The King University men's wrestling returned to the mat on Friday at the Coker Duals where they went 2-1. The Tornado started the day with a 39-13 win over Brewton-Parker College and followed it with a 43-3 win over Spartanburg Methodist. In the final match of the day, King fell to UNC Pembroke 24-17.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Three of the 10 wrestlers that competed for the Tornado won all three of their matches on the day.
• No. 4 Bryce Killian took his first win by forfeit before defeating Marvin Galette of Spartanburg Methodist on a 20-5 technical fall. He finished the day with a 13-4 major decision over Jake Smith of UNC Pembroke.
• Andrew Lutterloh led the way for the Tornado, going 3-0 on the day. He started with a 1:50 pin over Bucky Dennis of Brewton-Parker and took a forfeit win against Spartanburg Methodist. He finished the day with a 3-1 victory over UNC Pembrokes Stuart Nadeau.
• Reed Jacks started all three of King's duals with a victory, taking two by forfeit before topping UNC Pembrokes Josh Brown on a 16-8 major decision.
• Kody Eichlin and Cody Davis both went 2-1 on the day. Eichlin earned an 8-3 decision over Zach Perez of Brewton-Parker and defeated Daquon Wilson of Spartanburg Methodist 4-0. His lone loss came to No. 6 Blaze Shade of UNC Pembroke.
• Davis pinned his first two opponents, taking a 4:06 pin over MaShawn Knight of Brewton-Parker and 1:55 pin over Austin Thompson of Spartanburg Methodist.
• In his only match of the day, Darius Rutland pinned the Brewton-Parker's Wilder Elliott in 1:13, giving the Tornado an 18-7 advantage.
• Landon Reed earned his lone win of the day over Hayden Fry of UNC Pembroke on a 7-3 decision.

• King will be in action again on Saturday, January 16 when they host Limestone Collge at 7:00 p.m. in the Student Center Complex.
