Mate Lengyel joined the King University men's soccer staff as a full-time assistant coach in the fall of 2025, following a successful playing and coaching career in both Hungary and the United States.
A native of Hungary, Lengyel spent 14 years with Videoton FC, where he helped the club capture a U17 National Championship. He continued his playing career with Fovárosi Vízmuvek for two seasons before transferring to the United States in 2021 to join King University. In his first season with the Tornado, he led the team in goals and was named Player of the Year.Â
In 2022, Lengyel transferred to Milligan University, where he became a two-time Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Champion, an AAC Tournament Champion, and a National Runner-up. He graduated from Milligan in 2024 with a Bachelor of Exercise Science with a concentration in Sports Management.
Later that year, Lengyel returned to King University as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the men's soccer program while pursuing his Master of Business Administration, which he completed in 2025. Following graduation, he transitioned into a full-time assistant coaching role with the Tornado. Lengyel also holds a U.S. Soccer Federation D License.Â
