Brian Kamm is a veteran golf coach and former PGA TOUR player who has built the King University men’s and women’s golf programs into consistent contenders. He joined the King staff prior to the 2011–12 season and has used his more than 30 years of professional and amateur experience to steadily elevate the Tornado programs.

Recent Seasons as Head Coach
Men’s Golf

  • 2022–23: Finished 6th at the Conference Carolinas Championship. Gustav Damgaard earned the Conference Carolinas Elite 23 Award, and Åasmund Norum was named First Team All-Conference Carolinas.
  • 2021–22: Led the Tornado to their first Conference Carolinas Championship, overcoming a nine-stroke deficit entering the final day to win by three strokes. King made its first NCAA South/Southeast Regional appearance as a team, finishing 16th. Samuel Trueba became the first Tornado to qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championship, finishing third at the regional and third at nationals (one stroke back). Alex Bradford, Jeffery Perez, and Åasmund Norum earned All-Regional Tournament honors, with three players named All-Conference Carolinas.

Women’s Golf

  • 2023-24: Finished 2nd at the Conference Carolinas Championship. Jasmine Sachdev placed 5th, alongside Lucy Holbrough who finished in 7th place, and Julianna Go in 8th place, all recieving All-Tournament honors. 
  • 2022–23: Finished 8th at the Conference Carolinas Championship. Lisa Wahlqvist earned All-Tournament honors with a 10th-place finish and was joined by Ellie Pittman on the Academic All-Conference and Academic All-District lists.
  • 2021–22: Finished 8th at the Conference Carolinas Championship, led by First Team All-Conference selection Kornbongkoat Sararat and Second Team honoree Sasha Gardiner.
  • 2016–17: Guided the women’s team to its first Conference Carolinas Championship, winning by three strokes. Nicola Robertson became the second Tornado to claim the individual title (co-champion).
King Highlights & Program Milestones
  • First men’s NCAA South Regional team qualification and individual national championship appearance (2021–22).
  • First women’s Conference Carolinas Championship (2016–17).
  • Multiple tournament victories, including the King Invitational.
  • Produced the first men’s (Richard Powell, 2012–13) and women’s (Elizabeth Swallow, 2013–14) NCAA Regional qualifiers.
  • Teams and individuals consistently ranked competitively, with strong academic achievements across both programs.
  • During his tenure, King golfers have earned numerous honors, including:
    Men: 1 NCAA National Championship qualifier, 1 Conference Carolinas Individual Medalist, 15 All-Conference selections, 31 Academic All-Conference honorees, 1 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and 1 Elite 23 Award.
    Women: 2 Conference Carolinas Individual Medalists, 15 All-Conference selections, 2 Scholar-Athletes of the Year, 1 Player of the Year, 1 Freshman of the Year, and multiple Academic All-District selections.
Pre-King Career

Kamm began his professional career on the PGA TOUR in 1990 and spent several years inside the top 100 on the money list (1993–95). He also finished inside the top 10 on the Nationwide Tour money list in 1992 and 1997. He claimed victories at the 1997 Honda International (Guadalajara, Mexico) and the 1992 Ben Hogan Panama City Beach Classic.

As an amateur, he placed third in the 1981 New York State Amateur and won the 1983 Monroe Invitational while reaching the quarterfinals of the 1984 Western Amateur. Kamm played collegiately at Florida State University (1979–1984) alongside PGA TOUR stars Paul Azinger, Jeff Sluman, and Nolan Henke. He won the Seminole Intercollegiate and Metro Conference Championship in 1984 and was named an NCAA All-American.

Education and Personal

Kamm graduated from Florida State University in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in child development and family relations. He trained and worked with golf legends David Ledbetter for 16 years and sports psychologist Dr. Bob Rotella for five years. A native of Rochester, New York, he is married to Yvette and has two children, Brandy and Michael. The family resides in Bluff City, Tennessee.
