Andrew Stella

Now in his fourth year as an assistant coach with the Kingmen’s wrestling team, Nick Stella brings a wealth ofenthusiasm to complement his Division I wrestling experience. Afterfinding success early in his career, he has carried that with himto pass on to his athletes at King with outstanding results.

In 2012-13, Stella helped the Tornado post a dual match recordof 5-3, while going 3-0 in conference matches. King also competedin many tournaments and had two wrestler's finish in the top-6 ofthe NCAA Division II Regional, Dyvon Passmore and Cody Davis. BothTrevor Wentt and Jeremy Miller earned Academic All-AmericanHonors.

In his first two years as an assistant coach with King, Stellahas worked with six National Tournament qualifiers and twoAll-Americans. In 2011-12, Frank Morgan and Tywan Claxton eachearned All-American honors as part of a foursome that traveled toPueblo, Colo. to represent the nationally-ranked Tornado. Kingreached as high as No. 11 in the national rankings that year andfinished No. 20 overall in a season they were constantly in thenational spotlight.

Prior to coming to King, Stella was a four-year wrestler at theUniversity at Buffalo between 2005-10. He held an overall record of71-66 in his career and currently holds the school record in dualmeet escapes with 93. At UB, he was trained by and wrestled forNCAA Division I All-Americans Jim Beichner and Jeff Catrabone inaddition to NJCAA All-American, Frank Beasley.

His youth career began showing signs of success as early as hisseventh grade year when he started for the Sweet Home High Schoolvarsity team and was a state qualifier the following year. He was afour-time New York State Qualifier and posted a high school careerrecord of 184-32.

Stella graduated from the University at Buffalo in 2010 with adegree in Health and Human Services and recently completed hisMasters of Education from King. His brother, Nic, is currently astarter on the Tornado wrestling team at 149 pounds.
