Salata joined the Tornado staff prior to the 2016-17 season, following an outstanding career at King that saw her win a pair of WCWA national championships. Salata has continued to compete in international competition as she wrestled at the U.S. Olympic Trials in April of 2021.

Year-by-Year Season Recaps

2020-21: As an NCAA Emerging Sport, the Tornado finished runner-up at the NCWW National Championships that featured only NCAA member schools. King had 13 individuals earn All-America honors, including one national champion in Cheyenne Sisenstein. On the international front, former Tornado Sarah Hildebrandt won the U.S. Olympic Trials, becoming the second Tornado to earn a spot on the Olympic Team. In all, King had nine current and former athletes compete in April's Trials. In dual matches, King went 7-1, with their only defeat coming to second-ranked McKendree.

2019-20: Women's wrestling became an NCAA Emerging Sport in 2020, and the Tornado took a third place finish in the first-ever NCAA WCWC National Championships. King had 10 individuals earn All-America honors. The Tornado went 11-1 in dual matches, with their only defeat coming in the NWCA National Duals semifinals to second-ranked Simon Fraser.

2018-19: King started the season with a runner-up finish at the NWCA National duals, falling to top-ranked McKendree in the final. King posted a 10-3 record in duals and had eight WCWA All-Americans.

2017-18: The Tornado posted a dual record of 13-2, and finished fifth at the NWCA National Duals. King also came in with a sixth place finish at the WCWA National Championships and had seven All-Americans, including one national champion.

2016-17: King had their first wrestler compete at the Olympic Games when Haley Augello competed for the United Stated in Rio. King then went on to win their fourth straight NWCA National Duals title in January and followed that with their fourth WCWA national title a month later. King had nine All-Americans and three individual national champions at the WCWA National Championships. In June, the Tornado were recognized with a Champion Within award from the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame, earning the "Champions As Pioneers" distinction.

King Wrestling Career

In her four years as a wrestler at King, Salata was a four-time Women's Collegiate Wrestling Association (WCWA) All-American, winning two national championships. The Canton, Michigan native finished fourth in her freshman season at the WCWA National Championships before taking runner-up as a sophomore.

Her final two years as a Tornado may have been the best two, going undefeated and winning national titles in both her junior and senior seasons. Along with the individual success, Salata helped the Tornado to the first two of their three straight National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals championships.

Professional Career

Outside of collegiate wrestling, Salata has been successful internationally as well. She has been a training partner for 2016 Olympian Adeline Gray and is a current U.S. Senior National Team member. In 2014 she was a U.S. World Team Trials runner-up and finished fourth in 2012 and 2016 at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials. She was a 2014 University World Championship bronze medalist and a two-time University National and University World Team member. Salata was a two-time Junior World Team member and a two-time Pan American Championships bronze medalist.

Personal

Off the mat, Salata interned for USA Wrestling, and later graduated from a pair of wrestling coaching courses, the NWCA Women's Leadership Academy and the United World Wrestling Level 1 International Coaching Course. Salata has been involved in wrestling in many different ways, including providing commentary and articles for Flowrestling on high school national championships and the U.S. Open.
