Ulrich joined the Tornado staff prior to the 2017 season and led the Tornado to an 11-15 record and Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship berth.

2017-18: The Tornado finished third in the Conference Carolinas North Division with a league record of 6-8. King posted a pair of three-match winning streaks and went 4-4 at home. Becca Huddleston earned second team All-Conference Carolinas honors while Amy Serowski and Cathy Scaniffe garnered third team honors.
Prior to King
Ulrich spent the last two years as the head coach at Randall University in Moore, Okla. Prior to his first year, the Saints went 4-30 and he turned that around to a 12-24 mark in 2016 before leading Randall to a 26-13 record a season ago. Under Ulrich's tutelage, the Saints reached the NCCAA Division II Final Four in 2016.
Along with his duties at Randall, Ulrich was also a coach and director of recruiting for the Oklahoma Charge Volleyball Club. Prior to his appointments at Randall and with the Oklahoma Charge, Ulrich was an assistant coach at his alma mater, Lincoln Christian University, helping lead them to three NCCAA Final Four appearances in five years. In that time he coached seven first team and two second team All-Americans as well as 13 scholar athletes.
Personal
In 2017, Ulrich was selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Thirty Under 30 list, an award that honors up-and-coming coaching talents at all levels. He was the only NCCAA member to earn the award.
Ulrich earned his Bachelor of Arts in Spiritual Formation and Ministry at Lincoln Christian University.
