King Rallies Late to Defeat Tusculum in Nonconference Matchup

The King University baseball team earned a hard-fought nonconference win on Tuesday afternoon, using a three-run seventh inning to surge past Tusculum for a 7–6 victory at King Baseball Field. With the win, the Tornado improve to 8–14 on the season.

Bristol, Tenn.- The King University baseball team earned a hard-fought nonconference win on Tuesday afternoon, using a three-run seventh inning to surge past Tusculum for a 7–6 victory at King Baseball Field. With the win, the Tornado improve to 8–14 on the season.

Game Summary

King wasted no time striking first in the opening inning.
Kale Richardson launched a two-run homer to left, scoring Tommy Regan to give the Tornado a 2–0 lead. Moments later, Adrian Vidal singled to right to bring home Justin Smith, pushing the advantage to 3–0.

Tusculum answered in the second.
A pair of RBI singles — one from Jake Absher and another from Jake Smith — brought in three runs to tie the game 3–3.

The Pioneers took their first lead in the third when Kolby Watson singled up the middle to score Ryan Ortega, making it 4–3.

King pulled even again in the fourth.
Jose Ruiz singled to left to score Mitchell Victor, knotting the contest at 4–4.

Tusculum responded in the fifth with a two-run single from Jack Gagen, reclaiming the lead at 6–4.

The Tornado delivered the decisive blow in the seventh.
Vidal came through again, lining a two-run single to left to score Kale Richardson and Tommy Regan, tying the game 6–6.
Moments later, Jackson Medure lifted a sacrifice fly to center, bringing home Justin Smith and giving King a 7–6 lead.

From there, the Tornado bullpen shut the door, holding Tusculum scoreless over the final four innings to secure the win.
