Esports COD Wins in Close Matchup Against Ashland

The Tornado Call of Duty team takes the win over Ashland in a five-set battle while Valorant lost in a close one.

Bristol, Tenn. – The King University Esports team competed in two matches tonight, with Valorant competing first and Call of Duty going second. The Valorant team fell to Georgia Southwestern in a 2-1 thriller. The Call of Duty team battled their way back from down 2-0 to win the match 3-2.
 
Call of Duty:
 
The King University team took on Ashland University in a five-match thriller where King came out victorious. They were led by Vetle Saether and Chase Proffitt, who both held positive K/D for every round except one.
 
They were able to win the first set with the map being hardpoint, where King won 250-165. Proffitt led with an amazing K/D of 36/13 with five assists. Ashtan Hendricks had the second most eliminations with 27, and Saether had the most assists with nine.
 
The second map, King, was down a player in Search and Destroy, and they lost 6-4. Saether had the best K/D with a 6/7. They would fall in the third set, 4-3, to Overload. Hendricks, Proffitt, and Saether all finished with over 20 eliminations.
 
The Tornado focused up for the fourth set and won it 250-199 in Hardpoint. Proffitt had one of his best sets this year in this set with 44 eliminations and only 27 faints. Hendricks kept up his consistent master class with 30 eliminations and nine more assists.
 
King finished the match with a win in Search and Destroy, winning 6-5. Proffitt finished with a  19/7 K/D with two assists, the best in the lobby. Saether would be the only other player with a positive K/D with a 7/6.
 
Valorant:
 
The King University team took on Georgia Southwestern in a back-and-forth match where the Tornado fell 2-1. King won the first match and would fall back-to-back the next two matches.
 
Cristobel Amiel carried the team with a 24/18/8 ratio of eliminations/knocks/assists. He helped the team win the first match 13-10. Matthew Montenegro-Strunk helped with another eight assists.
 
In the next match, King couldn't battle through the top three of Georgia Southwestern. This allowed them to win 13-2 and force a set three. King would battle but fall in the third set, 13-11, and would lose their first match of the season.
