FLORENCE, S.C. – The King University baseball team's late rally attempt came up short Friday night, falling 5-4 at Francis Marion.
Nathan Borchardt went 3-for-5 at the plate, while
Turner Stout drove in a pair of runs.

KING HIGHLIGHTS
- Borchard was 3-for-5 on the day, while Stout was 1-for-1, driving in a pair of runners.
- King had a total of 10 hits on the night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- King got on the board first, as Levi Medford was hit by a pitch to start the top of the fourth, advancing to second when Conner Hyatt was also plunked.
- After Josh Nuno sacrifice bunted to move the runners, Jose Ruiz doubled to right center field, scoring Medford and giving King a 1-0 lead.
- The Patriots scored a pair in the bottom of the fifth on a two-RBI double, later adding a run in the sixth to take a 3-1 lead.
- Francis Marion then scored two more in the seventh, extending their lead to 5-1.
- King rallied in the top of the eighth, scoring three runs, including a sacrifice fly by Daniel Hicks that allowed Joe Amunategui to score before Stout's single down the left field line that scored Hyatt and Medford.
FOR THE FOES
- Will Dorrell was the only Francis Marion player to have multiple hits, finishing 2-for-4, with an RBI.
- Noah Stout was 1-for-2, with his one hit being an RBI double.
