YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The King University women's basketball team was defeated by Young Harris in the second round of the 2025 Atlantic Casualty Insurance Conference Carolinas Tournament on Monday evening by a score of 54-47.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mariya Williams opened the game's scoring with a pair of free throws. Young Harris started their scoring with a three-point shot before Jaden Potts hit her own shot from beyond the arc.
- The Mountain Lions hit another three-point shot retaking the lead three minutes into the game. Young Harris would lead for the rest of the game.
- Williams hit a buzzer beater layup to end the opening period to cut into the Mountain Lion lead. The first quarter ended with Young Harris up 15-12.
- King's first points in the second quarter came on a three-point shot from Sarah Thompson at the 4:46 mark. Alayna Smith's layup made it a five-point run, but the Tornado headed to the halftime locker room down 29-17.
- Both teams were defensive coming out of the break, with Young Harris getting the first score of the second half at the 6:07 mark.
- Jaelyn West went 3-4 from the floor, including 2-3 from beyond the arc to score eight points in the third quarter.
- King had a five-point run heading into the media timeout of the fourth quarter. West scored four straight to start a ten-point run to end the game and cut into the Young Harris lead, but it wasn't enough as the Mountain Lions took the game 54-47.

- Mariya Williams hit a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. She also tied for a team-high 2 assists and 3 steals. Half of her points came from the free throw line.
- Jaelyn West went 4-7 from the floor, including two shots from beyond the arc as she scored 12 for the Tornado. Ashley Allen had three steals.
- King outscored Young Harris 18-14 inside the paint. The Tornado and the Mountain Lions matched for 12 points off turnovers, 6 fastbreak points, and 14 points from bench players.
